 How to Control RGB LED Without programing using ESP32 & WLED by WTC Zone


To make an RGB LED light controlled using an ESP32 DevKit and the WLED mobile app, follow these steps:


What You’ll Need

  1. ESP32 DevKit (Any model)
  2. RGB LED (Common cathode or common anode)
  3. Resistors (220 ohms for each LED pin)
  4. USB cable (for ESP32 programming and power)
  5. Breadboard and jumper wires
  6. WLED App (Download for Android or iOS)



Step 1: 

Circuit Connection

  1. RGB Led:

    • Connect the Common Cathode of the RGB LED to ESP32 GND pins .
    • Connect the Red Leg Pin and 12 pins of ESP32.
    • Connect the Green Leg Pin and 16 pins of ESP32.
    • Connect the Blue Leg Pin and 17 pins of ESP32.
  2. Connect to the PC:

    • Use an external Micro USB cable to connect ESP32 to the PC.

Configuring the WLED

  1. Desktop App:

    • Click the link (Link) and connect the ESP32 to the PC.
    • Click on install and select the correct COMP Port of your ESP32 Board.
    • Erase all data and Click ok.
    • The installation process will co on for 2 minutes.
    • Select the device and You are on the app.
    • Here Config the Pins.
  2. Pin Configration:

    • Click on Config Icon and Click LED Configuration.
    • Select the PWM RGB from the Menu.
    • and Add the PINS like Red-12,Green-16,Blue-17 in the Section and save 
  3. Satisfying Colors:

    • Control the LED using the Console now.
